Process for Application of Incentives
The EDC of Elkhart County considers its job to be making the
Incentives Application as easy and
fast-moving as possible for the prospective company (client).
1. EDC of Elkhart
County organizes initial meeting with the Client, representative of
the IEDC (Indiana Economic Development Corporation) and representatives
of the appropriate Community.
2. EDC of Elkhart County helps
the Client complete and submit application forms to the IEDC and the
Community.
3. EDC of Elkhart County facilitates the
Community submission of the "Letter of Support" to Client and IEDC.
4. IEDC reviews Application and "Letter of Support" and
issues "Pre-commit Letter" to the Client. EDC of Elkhart County
tracks progress.
5. Client reviews "Pre-commit Letter",
and accepts or declines within 30 days. EDC of Elkhart County
tracks progress and facilities any further discussions.
6.
EDC of Elkhart County facilitates the completion of the Community
Tax Phase-In process:
A. Completion of Community
and State forms.
B. Client attends public meeting
to request incentives. Declaratory Resolution is shared and reviewed by
appropriate government jurisdiction at meeting.
C.
Client attends public hearing to answer questions and support their
request. Confirming Resolution is shared and reviewed at this hearing.
7. EDC of Elkhart County and IEDC coordinate the public
announcement of Client’s project and appropriate press releases.
