Serving as a continuation of GD&T Introduction – Level 1, this hands-on workshop expands upon the foundational concepts covered in the initial training. Participants will deepen their understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), a symbolic language used on engineering drawings to define part features such as size, shape, form, and orientation. By mastering GD&T, manufacturers can enhance clarity in design communication, improve inspection accuracy, and reduce production costs.
This course begins with a thorough review of GD&T Introduction – Level 1. Participants will gain practical experience interpreting GD&T symbols, applying geometric tolerances to conventional drawings, and designing a simple gage to verify.
Prerequisites:
· Individuals must have completed Purdue MEP’s workshop, GD&T Introduction – Level 1, or have a basic understanding of GD&T.
· Individuals must be able to read and interpret basic engineering prints or have completed Purdue MEP’s workshop Print Reading for Manufacturing.
Objectives:
- Identify and explain the 14 geometric tolerance symbols
- Understand how geometric tolerances are applied in manufacturing
- Write and interpret GD&T symbols on engineering drawings
- Design a simple gage to verify
Intended audience:
- Quality control/assurance technicians and inspectors and other manufacturing personnel whose jobs require the use of engineering drawings
Workshop length: 8 hours – 8:30AM – 4:30PM
Cost: $250
